Structure

There are Xxiv teams inside Football League Both. For apiece the single team plays each of the more teams twice (when home, it used to be that away) & come awarded trine points for the win, one for the draw & zero for a loss. From either these points the league table is constructed. At a prevent of every year a top iii teams, together sustaining a winner of a play-offs between the teams which finished around Quaternary–Seventh position, come promoted to Football League One and are replaced per 4 teams that finished at a bottom of that section. Likewise them teams that finished at a bottom of Football League 2 come relegated to the Conference National & are replaced per team that finished First and a team that won a 2d–Fifth place play-off in this section.

Final League position is determined, therein choose, by points found, goal difference, goals scored, the mini-league of the outcomes between 2 or even other teams ranked using the former trey criteria & eventually a series of 1 or thomas more pit matches.

History

Football League 2 was introduced for the 2004-2005 season. It replaced a Football League Third Division.

Note: At a prevent of the 2004-05 year, Yeovil Town, Scunthorpe United, & Swansea City automatically gained promotion to League One while Southend United won promotion via the playoffs. Kidderminster Harriers & Cambridge United were relegated to the Conference National.
